Lincoln Aviator: Collision Warning and Collision Avoidance System / Description and Operation - Collision Warning and Collision Avoidance System - Overview
Overview
The forward collision warning system works in conjunction with the ACC
system. The forward collision warning system provides two major alerts
for the driver in the event of a collision. A red warning indicator from
the HUD module and an audible warning chime from the IPC. For this system, a HUD with driver information display is controlled by the IPC
and illuminates a solid red bar that appears on the windshield in place
of any other selected indicators. For additional information about the
HUD,
Refer to: Collision Warning and Collision Avoidance System - System Operation and Component Description (419-03C Collision Warning and Collision Avoidance System, Description and Operation).
If the system senses the driver is not reacting, the CCM sends a message to the ABS
module to charge the brakes for more sensitive braking or for automatic
braking to slow or stop the vehicle to avoid or reduce the impact of a
collision.
Forward Collision Warning System With CCM
During a possible collision event, the CCM commands:
-
the IPC to activate the red warning indicator in the information center.
-
the IPC to activate the red warning indicator in the HUD.
-
the IPC to activate the chime message.
-
the ACM to mute audio volume and signal the chime.
Forward Collision Warning System Without CCM
During a possible collision event, the IPMA commands:
-
the IPC to activate the red warning indicator in the information center.
-
the IPC to activate the red warning indicator in the HUD.
-
the IPC to activate the chime message.
-
the ACM to mute audio volume and signal the chime.

When you electronically lock your vehicle
with any door open, the transmission is in
