Flat Headed Screw Driver

Removal

NOTE: Removal steps in this procedure may contain installation details.

Exterior mirror assembly

  1. Remove the front door interior trim panel.
    Refer to: Front Door Trim Panel (501-05 Interior Trim and Ornamentation, Removal and Installation).
    1. Disconnect the exterior mirror electrical connector and position the hole plug aside.
    1. If equipped.
      Disconnect the camera electrical connector.
    1. Remove the nuts.
      Torque: 80 lb.in (9 Nm)
    1. Release the assembly aid clip.
    1. Remove the exterior mirror assembly.

Exterior mirror glass

  WARNING: Place a shop towel between the hands and the exterior mirror glass for protection in case of glass breakage during mirror service. Failure to follow this instruction may result in serious personal injury.

NOTICE: Position the screwdriver using the service slot in the mirror glass backing plate to remove the mirror glass. Prying on the backing plate in other locations may damage the mirror glass.


  1. Remove the exterior mirror glass.
    1. Position the exterior mirror glass fully in and up.
    1. Using a flat blade screwdriver to release the tabs starting at the lower outboard side of mirror and continuing around the mirror until all the tabs are released.
      Use the General Equipment: Flat Headed Screw Driver
    1. NOTE: The number and location of the electrical connectors will vary based on mirror option content.

      Disconnect the exterior mirror glass electrical connectors.

Exterior mirror motor

  1. Remove the exterior mirror glass.

  1. Remove the exterior mirror motor.
    1. Disconnect the exterior mirror motor electrical connector.
    1. Remove the exterior mirror motor screw.
      Torque: 13 lb.in (1.5 Nm)
    1. NOTE: Use a flat-blade screwdriver and remove the exterior mirror motor from the three mounting clips.

      Release the tabs and remove the exterior mirror motor.

Exterior mirror bezel

  1. Remove the exterior mirror glass.
  1. Remove the screws, release the tab and remove the exterior mirror bezel.

Exterior mirror cover

  1. Remove the exterior mirror bezel.

  1. Remove the exterior mirror cover.
    1. Release the tabs and position the mirror cover out.
    1. Disconnect the mirror mounted turn signal electrical connector.

Mirror mounted turn signal

  1. Remove the exterior mirror cover.
  1. Remove the screw and the exterior mirror mounted turn signal.

Puddle lamp

  1. Remove the exterior mirror bezel.

  1. Remove the puddle lamp.
    1. Disconnect the puddle lamp electrical connector.
    1. Release the puddle lamp retaining lower and upper tabs.
      Use the General Equipment: Flat Headed Screw Driver
    1. Remove the puddle lamp.

Exterior mirror side parking aid camera

  1. Remove the exterior mirror bezel.
  1. Remove the screw, the bracket, disconnect the electrical connector and remove the exterior mirror side parking aid camera.

Installation

  1. To install, reverse the removal procedure.

Vehicles equipped with 360° cameras only.

  1. NOTE: Carry out the following step if installing a new front camera.

    Initialize the camera.
    Refer to: Parking Aid Camera Initialization (413-13B Parking Aid - Vehicles With: Parking Aid Camera, General Procedures).
  1. NOTE: Carry out the following steps only if a mirror assembly was removed.

    Align the 360° cameras.
    Refer to: 360 Degree View Camera Alignment (413-13B Parking Aid - Vehicles With: Parking Aid Camera, General Procedures).

    Emergency Locking

    Each door has a backup power system which allows the door to function if your vehicle has no power. The system has a limited number of operations before the power is depleted and turns off. When the system turns off, the door remains open and unlatched and does not close.

    If your vehicle has no power and the backup power system is turned off, you can close and secure your vehicle by manually resetting each door latch using a key in the position shown.
